Psychotherapy has for goal to help a person become more aware and gain a greater understanding of his or her problematic thoughts and behavioral patterns as well as of his or her strengths. Psychotherapy also involves learning to leverage those strengths, inner capacity, and better understanding, to become better able to cope with life issues, relationships, disorders, or life traumas.
Psychotherapy involves teamwork between the client and the psychologist. My role, as a psychologist, is to be there with you in the healing process, help you develop the skills needed to better cope with difficult situations, thoughts and emotions and help you find greater inner peace. Your commitment to the therapeutic process is very important and plays a key role in the eventual outcome of the therapy.
Note that for psychotherapy to be beneficial to clients, it necessitates that we spend some time on what is uncomfortable or painful which could at times bring about difficult emotions, such as sadness, anger, guilt, or anxiety. Consequently, while chances are that you will generally feel better after a session, it is possible to, at times, leave a session feeling worse than upon your arrival. This is absolutely normal and is part of the therapeutic process.
All of this done in either English or French, in a climate of respect, compassion, and non-judgment.
Fees: $ 220 for each session of 50 minutes

3) students or the school might need a formal letter communicating symptoms or a particular situation and recommendations with regards to accommodations for them.
Note that such letters are always written with the client's consent.
Fees: I do not typically charge for one-pager letters, requiring less than an hour of my time.
For the completion of more formal documents i.e., medical questionnaires for third party or for letters requiring further assessment or analysis, the fee is $220 per hour.
